Andrey Murov holds meeting on deliverables of Russian National Committee of CIGRE
In 2019, Russia was the first in Europe and the fifth in the world in terms of the number of members of its National Committee, has successfully held a joint meeting of the two governing bodies of the organization in Saint Petersburg, a panel session within the framework of the Russian Energy Week - 2019 Forum, and scientific and technical exchange events with the participation of experts from the CIS, EU and China. The results of Russian NC work and main tasks were discussed at the meeting held by the Head of the Committee, Chairman of the Board of FGC UES (Rosseti Group) Andrey Murov.
The meeting was attended by chief executives of leading scientific and technical partners of Russian NC: FGC UES, JSC R&D Center FGC UES, SO UES, Inter RAO, NP Market Council, MPEI, leading manufacturers of electrical equipment, etc.
As noted by A. Murov, the main task of Russian NC of CIGRE for the coming months is the preparation for the 48th Session of the Association, which will be held in 2020 in Paris. "36 papers from Russia have been approved for the Session. With this figure, we are the fourth in the world. In addition to the traditional participation in the scientific, business and exhibition program, at the 48th Session of CIGRE Russian NGN for the first time will be responsible for organizing virtually all youth events," he said.
Summing up 2019, A. Murov called the joint meeting of the Steering Committee and the Technical Council of CIGRE, which was held in October in Saint Petersburg, a key event. It was the first time Russia hosted the event in this format. It focused on the strategic matters of the association's governance and the global trends of the industry.
On the eve of the session, the "Evolution of Energy Systems: A Global Perspective" panel session organized with support from CIGRE and FGC UES took place at the International Forum "Russian Energy Week - 2019". The discussion covered the managerial and technological transformations that will take place in the electrical power industry in the next 10-15 years: digitalization, replacement of conventional generation with renewable energy sources, and complication of the market structure.
In addition, in 2019, under the auspices of the Russian NC & Russian NGN of CIGRE, a number of significant scientific and technical exchange events were held with the participation of specialists from Russia and CIS countries, Austria, Germany, China, the Netherlands, and Poland, as well as the first meeting of the "Women in Engineering" discussion club.
