A. Murov speaks at the RNC CIGRE reporting conference
The Chairman of the Russian National Committee of CIGRE, the head of FGC UES Andrey Murov held a reporting conference on results of the 47th session of the international association. Participants discussed practical cases of the introduction of end-to-end digital technologies in the energy sector and the development of the manufacture of globally competitive electrical products in Russia. They considered key industry trends in the era of digitalization, decarbonization and decentralization.
The conference was held in the scientific and technical center of FGC UES (STC of FGC UES). It was attended by the heads of base organizations of the RNC CIGRE - SO UES, NRU MPEI, Inter RAO, RTSoft and representatives of Rosseti, Rosneft, Transneft, Russian Railways, manufacturers of electrical equipment, industry specialists. Sun Yanhong, the head of the Shenyang Transformer Research Institute, was invited to the conference as a guest.
One of the main topics of the event was digitalization – practical cases of introducing new technologies in the industry, prospects for the application of solutions in machine learning and artificial intelligence, energy storage systems for demand management, blockchain as the basis for the future system of decentralized data exchange between consumers, etc. were considered.
As A. Murov noted in his speech, popularization of the results of scientific and technical cooperation, the access of Russian specialists to international expertise are an important task and advantage of participating in the work of the RNC CIGRE. “The intensification of scientific and technical exchange is not an end in itself, but an applied tool. Relying on this knowledge, we increase the efficiency and reliability of the Russian energy industry. In addition, they allow us to increase the export potential of the industry, to adequately assess the demand and promising areas of developments”, said A. Murov.
At the CIGRE Session 47 held in 2018 in Paris, Russia was represented by more than 150 specialists from leading industry organizations. 35 reports of domestic experts were included in the scientific part of the session - a record for all 95 years of partnership with the association. At the technical exhibition, the latest Russian solutions in the field of digitalization, superconductivity, energy efficiency, etc. were presented. On the margins of the event, agreements were signed in respect of RNC CIGRE, STC FGC UES. Agreements on the transfer of innovative technologies from Russia to India and Portugal, the implementation of joint projects with organizations from the USA, China and the Netherlands were reached.

The International Council for High Voltage Electric Systems - CIGRE (Conseil International des Grands Réseaux Electriques - CIGRE) is the largest non-governmental organization in the field of electric power industry, one of the most respected scientific and technical associations in the world. CIGRE was established in 1921 in France, today it brings together scientists and experts from 95 states.
Russian specialists have been participating in the association since 1923. In 1957, the National Committee of CIGRE was established, since 2015 it has been headed by the Chairman of the Board of FGC UES A. Murov.
Currently, the RNC CIGRE ranks first in Europe in terms of the number of participants. CIGRE has 16 international research committees, Russian specialist work in each of them. One of the committees – on information technologies – is headed by a representative of Russia. The youth section of the RNC CIGRE is the largest in the world – about 5 thousand people participate in its events annually.
In the near future, Russia will host a number of important CIGRE events, including a joint meeting of the governing bodies – the steering committee and the technical council, which will be held in the summer of 2019 in St. Petersburg.
